"Many years of experience in working with problematic children in our martial arts business, and having a mother who have been a foster parent for several decades, have led us to a foster care ministry.
This experience forged the way in our lives to understanding trauma and how it impacts children. I’ve seen the impact of what trauma can do on countless families and children. I’ve also seen how families can reconnect and heal from trauma. All of that has helped us to recognize what is important to children and how to facilitate healing.If one can give a child some space, exercise patience, understanding and compassion, you can be a part of something special.
Children in the foster care system are all traumatized and don’t know things can be different because this is what they’ve grown up with.
It’s not their fault. We need adults that can remain calm, and meet the needs of the children. The rewards are priceless. To see a child grow in this way because of your efforts and love, Is extremely fulfilling emotionally.
If you are good at connecting with people and empathizing with them, you are going to do fine. If you can offer that to the children and families, you’re well-prepared already."
