On Wednesday, March 1st EmberHope Youthville of Newton, KS was blessed to have received a visit from Bishop Wilson.
Rev. Dr. David Wilson was elected to the episcopacy in 2022 and assigned to serve the Great Plains Annual Conference, which encompasses all of Kansas and Nebraska. Prior to his election and assignment, Bishop Wilson served as assistant to the bishop in the Oklahoma and Oklahoma Indian Missionary conferences. Bishop Wilson was accompanied by District Superintendent Karen Rice Ratzlaff (Hutchinson / Salina), District Superintendent Mitch Reece (Wichita East & West), and Kalaba Chali (prospective DS of Wichita East & West starting July 1, 2023).
The visit from Bishop Wilson was a tremendous opportunity for EmberHope Youthville to highlight the outstanding work being done with youth and families served through a variety of programs offered around the state. Nickaila Sandate, President and CEO of EmberHope Youthville and Lori Gonzales, Chief Program Officer, both led the visit with program updates and wonderful conversation in regards to being the only children’s advocacy organization supported by the Methodist Church in Kansas. Other program staff were also in attendance, giving updates and adding to the conversation about future partnerships and how to help bridge the service gap for children and families in KS.
