EmberHope is proud to celebrate Tamber Rouse, Director of Donor Relations, for being named one of Harvey County’s 4 Under 40 award recipients — an honor recognizing emerging young leaders who are making a meaningful impact through service and leadership. The annual 4 Under 40 Awards, organized by Emerge: Harvey County Young Professionals, spotlight individuals who exemplify dedication, innovation, and a deep commitment to their community. This year’s banquet took place on October 9th at Son Wray Ranch, where Tamber was honored alongside three other outstanding leaders for her remarkable contributions to Harvey County and beyond.
For Rouse, receiving this award is both humbling and deeply meaningful. “We often say we don’t do the work for recognition — and that’s true — but it’s still an incredible feeling when your efforts are seen and appreciated,” she shared. “It’s a meaningful reminder that the work we’re doing is making a real impact. Leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about caring enough to engage with your community and inspire change, no matter how big or small.” That belief in heart-driven leadership is something Rouse lives every day — through her role at EmberHope, her service to local initiatives, and her deep connection to the community she calls home.

When Tamber moved to Newton in 2020, the world was in a season of uncertainty. The pandemic had reshaped nearly every aspect of daily life, and she was also navigating significant personal changes of her own. “Newton became the place where I grew, healed, and found my footing again,” she said. “I’ve always had a passion for helping people, especially children. My purpose is tied to the impact I can make, and I’m so grateful to pour that energy into a community that’s given so much to me.” Her commitment to youth and families, and to creating opportunities for growth and stability, continues to drive her work — both professionally and personally.
Rouse’s award nominations came from two respected community leaders — Marty Kramer, President of EmberHope Foundation, and Dalton Black with United Way of Harvey County. “It honestly means so much to be nominated by Marty and Dalton,” Rouse said. “They’re both incredible people who lead with heart and grace. To be recognized by people I look up to is such an honor, and I can only hope to lead with the same kind of impact they do.”
As a young professional making a name for herself in the nonprofit sector, Tamber encourages others to take that first step — no matter how small — toward serving their community. “You don’t need to have it all figured out or hold a certain title to make a difference,” she shared. “Start where you are. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, ask questions, learn as you go, and lead in your own way.” She also emphasizes the power of volunteering. “Volunteering connects you with people, opens your eyes to the needs of your community, and reminds you how powerful small actions can be.”

Looking ahead, Rouse is excited about the future — both at EmberHope and within Harvey County. “I’m really proud of the work we’re doing at EmberHope, especially as we find new ways to fill gaps for kids, teens, and families who need extra support,” she said. “I’m also passionate about building bridges — between organizations, generations, and individuals who share the same heart for service. Some of the best solutions come from working together.”
Before closing, Rouse shared heartfelt thanks to those who have supported her journey. “I’d really like to thank Marty for believing in me from the very beginning. He’s shown me what it means to be a true leader — someone who inspires others to grow and lead in their own way,” she said. “And I want to thank Dalton for nominating me. Sometimes we wonder if what we’re doing really matters — and then someone reminds you they see you, they believe in you, and they understand your mission. That kind of support means the world.”
Rouse’s recognition as one of Harvey County’s 4 Under 40 leaders is a testament to her compassion, commitment, and vision for lasting community change. At EmberHope, we are deeply proud to have her as part of our leadership team — and we can’t wait to see the continued impact she’ll make in the years to come. Congratulations, Tamber! Your heart for service continues to inspire us all.
