Introducing Kansas' Intergenerational Community
Many at-risk young adults and seniors face isolation and lack the social and community support needed for a stable, healthy life. Affordable housing addressing the needs of both populations is scarce. Generations Thrive through Vibrant Housing Solution Hope Estates, located at EmberHope’s Newton campus, offers a unique intergenerational housing model connecting senior adults eager to mentor at-risk young adults. This family-based setting bridges the gap between generations and provides a stable, supportive environment for all residents. This project received significant funding through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC), securing $810,000 in federal LIHTC and state tax credits. It also includes an $800,000 HOME reservation to support its development.

Under a bright October sky, EmberHope celebrated a monumental milestone — the groundbreaking of Hope Estates, a 38-unit affordable, trauma-informed supportive housing community in Newton. What began as a vision years ago has now taken physical form, marking the start of something deeply transformative for both the organization and the community it serves.
