Since joining EmberHope in July 2024, she has quickly become a passionate advocate for children and families navigating adoption. Her dedication shines through, making a lasting impact in just a few short months.

Finding Purpose in Every Journey
“What do I love most about my job? So many things! The unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and families during one of the most significant transitions they will ever experience. Being part of the journey that leads to a child to finding a permanent, loving home is incredibly fulfilling. I get to witness firsthand the joy and hope that adoption brings.”
“I also appreciate the diversity of my work. Every case is different, and each child and family has their own story, needs, and challenges. Ultimately, I think being part of a child’s journey to find a forever home is what drives me every day. The relationships I build, the lives I help transform, and knowing that I’m shaping a brighter future for someone makes this job deeply meaningful to me.”
Advice for Future Team Members
Considering a career at EmberHope? Kayla encourages future team members to embrace patience and celebrate the small victories.
“The adoption process can sometimes feel slow, and the outcomes are not always immediate. Celebrate the milestones along the way, whether it’s a successful placement, a positive family interaction, or even developing a trusting relationship with a child. Small wins help remind you of the larger purpose and end goal of our work.”
Building Community at EmberHope
Beyond the meaningful work, Kayla finds joy in the relationships formed with her team. “Some of my favorite memories so far are hanging out with my team members! We have team lunches and outings where we’ve gone bowling or to play bingo. It’s fun being able to hang out and get to know my colleagues outside of our work environment.”
That supportive environment extends beyond social events. “EmberHope is a great place to work because of the work-life balance. They understand social services can be emotionally demanding and a healthy work-life balance is essential to employee well-being. The hours are flexible, and we have supportive supervisors who make sure we focus on self-care so we can provide great care to others.”
A Fun Fact About Kayla
When she’s not advocating for children, Kayla seeks out adrenaline-fueled adventures. “I’m an adrenaline junkie! I love rollercoasters or anything that gets my heartbeat going. Something on my bucket list is to go skydiving!”
